Like a dog with a chewtoy, journalists need a little something to help them unwind after digging in the trash a hard days work. Here's a little toy I've had running on another site of mine digitallydistracted.com (yes it hasn't been updated in what seems like years).

Its a little magnetic poetry program where you can drag and drop to make phrases. The snazzy part is if more than one person is using it at the same time, you see the other person's words move in realtime.

Anyway, some of you guys are real word freaks. But don't take offense, embrace your awkwardness. Dream up those phrases as headlines for stories that don't exists, whatever. Play the magnetic poetry game/thingy at digitallydistracted.com/poetry. Have fun!

And then I took a few minutes to think about all the shifty looks I would get if I didn't mention other games like zuma, that weird bubble game, and basically everything linked from addictinggames.com.

Copy editors eat that stuff up when they wait for pages. Any recommendations or favorites of your own?

We play dodgeball, flag football and soccer against different people like the online newsmagazine from the J School's staff or our rival school's newspaper staff. Lots of random toys have accumilated in our newsroom too. We have one of those things where you put your hand in it and the pins make an impresssion. Lots of action figures etc. More fun times journalist's toys can be found at WestEgg.com like Cliche Finder and Heard on the Streeet plus there's always Homestarrunner.com Teen Girl Squad 4 LIfe.

I envy your freetime. I'm down to play some whiffle ball, dodgeball, flag football, or soccer anytime (I'm a big fan of volleyball) . I'd like to get out (literally) and play sometime but its been pretty hard to rally the Evergreen staff lately.
